The Centennial State

Colorado has been about as amazing as we thought it would be. We’ve been in CO now for several weeks, beginning our stay in Colorado Springs, then Estes Park, and now in the Breckenridge and Dillon Lake area. We absolutely love this state and everything it has to offer. What’s not to like between the big mountains, alpine lakes, Rocky Mountain air, trails for days, and incredible breweries in almost every town we come across.

Some quick highlights of our CO adventures thus far:

which mountain is next?

Colorado Springs – Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks Open Spaces, incredible mountain biking, a wonderful visit with Morgan and Ashleigh, really good beer, meeting the Gracey’s, Pike’s Peak, sasquatch, and amazing canyon hikes near Cheyenne Mountain.

Estes Park and RMNP – Elk for days, epic Sky Pond hike, Dream Lake, Nymph Lake, and Emerald Lake, Seven Bridges, and an amazing hike with Morgan and Ashleigh up Lily’s Mountain.

Big Lewie at Breck Cabin

Breckenridge and the Dillon Lake area – Tiger Run resort, running the Colorado Trail, making friends with chipmunks, MTB with Steve & Paul, retiring my Trek 3900 for a new Fuel, reconnecting with the Shattuck’s, Mt. Elbert summit, moose, bears, fox, visit from Kayley, Morgan, and Ashleigh, and the rest is still TBD.

Heading to Grand Junction on Monday for a few days to get some RV service, to enjoy Fruita, and other local excitement before leaving CO for the great state of Utah. First stop is Moab!

  1. Hey, guys. It’s been fun following your blog as you travel around. We’ll be in Moab 13-15 July during our trip to CA. If you’re still there you can try one of my homemade Mosaic IPAs! Thanks for blogging and keeping us updated – makes quarantine life a little more bearable.

    1. AJ so cool you are keeping up with our adventures. Would absolutely love to see you guys when in Moab. WE will be there (July 10-14) in Moab and staying at Portal RV resort. Let’s make it happen!

  2. I’m so jealous! Amazingly beautiful photos! It looks like you folks are having a great time.
I always love visiting Colorado. I had a chance back in the ’90’s to spend 3-months in Boulder for a distance running training camp. Enjoy!

    1. We absolutely love CO and are even considering settling down here in the near future. Boulder is said to be the endurance capital of the world with so many super fit athletes in so many sports disciplines. I hope you are doing well and still maintaining the high level of fitness for which you are accustomed.
