The Garmin InReach is something I was turned onto by my buddies Alex Papa and Denis Cook while recently running through the Tetons. If you frequent the backcountry like I do where cell service is sparse, then this is the toy you can’t be without. Garmin has stepped up their game with the Inreach that offers two way text messaging via the global Iridium satellite network and the ability to trigger an SOS to a 24×7 search and rescue monitoring center. Through the Earthmate application, you’re able to download worldwide maps while pairing with your phone to give your friends and family the ability to track and know your location anywhere on the planet. You just can’t put a price tag on peace of mind!
