Tara and I have been staying in the enchanting little town of Crozet, just outside of Charlottesville, VA for a little over a week now. We had originally planned to stay here for a few nights but with the pandemic sadly unfolding the way that it has and with so many campgrounds closing, we decided to plant ourselves here for an extended stay. The Misty Mountain Camp Resort, where we are presently camped, is an awesome launch point for any outdoor enthusiast with so much to see and do in and around Crozet, Greenwood, and the adjoining areas. The camp resort itself is so charming with quite a few amenities, many of which we can do while practicing adequate social distancing such as horseshoes, fishing, and hiking. There are a ton of restaurants, breweries, wineries, and public gathering spots nearby, while many are currently closed, there are quite a few still offering take out and drive up services while maintaining a safe and comfortable distance during pickup. We’ve also made several trips over to the Crozet Dog Park to let Henry and Jax meet some new friends while expending some pent up energy.
Yesterday we recon’d a hike we plan to take that will lead us a bit off trail to a DC-3 plane crash that occurred in the late 50s. I hope to have more on that in an upcoming post.

Hello Tara and Scott, I wondered how your plans might be changed by the pandemic. It sounds like you folks are making the most of it. Crozet, Virginia is beautiful country! I am a native Virginian with roots in Floyd and New River. Enjoy!
Thanks for checking in Alisa. Great to hear from you. We are doing fine despite the craziness in the world right now. Crozet is amazing with so much to see and do. I hope you and your family are fairing well through these tough times. All the best.
Yesterday’s photo of the lake was gorgeous! Your dogs must be having fun.
Now that there is a “Stay at home” order from the governor does that change things for you guys?
Walnut Creek is a real treat with so much to do for everyone. The dogs are adapting quite nicely to their new lifestyles, smaller living space, and flexible routines. We are now planning to stay at the Misty Mountain campground through the end of April as a result of the new edict put out by the VA governor. If things get better sooner we plan to head south and make our way to Charlotte before then heading to Florida.
Sounds like an awesome way to start your journey! Look forward to hearing more about that hike.
Love the updates! Keep them coming. Enjoy the adventure.
You got it buddy!
